Chronic illness

Because caring for your health should not mean fighting against your body.

Living with chronic illness often means navigating a body that does not always feel predictable. Managing symptoms, changing medical recommendations, food restrictions, and conflicting nutrition advice can feel overwhelming, especially when you are already carrying the emotional and physical challenges of your day to day symptoms.

At Ahara Nutrition Counseling, we believe nutrition care for chronic illness should be flexible, individualized and rooted in compassion. Your body is not a problem to be fixed and nutrition support should not add more stress or rigid rules to your life.

Together, we may work on:

  • Supporting adequate nourishment while navigating symptoms

  • Finding realistic and flexible ways to meet your nutrition needs

  • Exploring the connection between food, symptoms, and quality of life

  • Navigating GI concerns, food intolerances and changing dietary needs

  • Reducing fear and anxiety around food

  • Rebuilding trust and confidence in your body

Clients often ask us…

Do I need a diagnosis to work with you?

You do not need a formal diagnosis to benefit from nutrition counseling! Whether you're newly navigating symptoms, waiting for answers or have been living with a chronic illness for years, we can work together to support your nutrition and overall well-being.

Can nutrition counseling help even if I've already "tried everything?"

Many of my clients come to me after trying countless diets, supplements or conflicting recommendations. Nutrition counseling isn't about finding the "perfect" diet. Its about helping you make sense of the information, supporting your body and creating an approach that works for your life.

Will you work with my other healthcare providers?

Yes! With your written permission, I am happy to collaborate with your physician, therapist, physical therapist, gastroenterologist or other members of your healthcare team to help ensure your care is coordinated and aligned with your goals.

Whether you've been living with your diagnosis for years or are still searching for answers, you deserve compassionate support. Together, we'll create a flexible approach to nutrition that supports your health, honors your lived experience and helps you feel more confident navigating food and your body.

You don't have to navigate chronic illness alone.
