Some common questions clients ask us…
What does a session look like?
Sessions with us are a collaborative space where you can show up as your whole self. In the beginning, sessions typically focus on getting to know you. Including your relationship with food, your health history, your eating patterns, your experiences and your goals for nutrition care. Together, we will create an individualized plan that may include exploring food flexibility, reducing ED behaviors, supporting nourishment, navigating medical complications and building confidence in your ability to care for yourself.
What role does a RD play on my treatment team?
A RD is an important member of an eating disorder treatment team, working alongside therapists, physicians and other healthcare providers to support your recovery. Our role is to help you rebuild trust with food and your body, provide nutrition education, support adequate nourishment, challenge food rules and collaborate with you to create a flexible and sustainable approach to eating. Nutrition recovery looks different for everyone, and we will meet you where you are while supporting you toward your goals.
Does recovery mean I have to stop all of my eating disorder behaviors immediately?
Recovery does not mean giving up every behavior overnight. Eating disorder recovery is a process of understanding the purpose these behaviors have served, exploring what they may be communicating and gradually building new skills and ways of coping that support your overall well-being. We will work with you to identify which behaviors may be keeping you stuck, while honoring that these behaviors often developed as a way to cope or create a sense of safety. Together, you will work toward creating a more peaceful relationship with food, your body, and yourself.
You deserve support that meets you where you are.
If you're ready to begin healing your relationship with food and your body, we’d be honored to work with you.
