Individual Nutrition Counseling

We offer virtual individual nutrition counseling for clients in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and select additional states. Our first few sessions are dedicated to getting to know the whole you. We will talk about your story, relationship with food, health experiences and what you hope to work toward. Together, we’ll create a personalized approach that feels supportive, realistic and aligned with your personal needs and goals. Sessions are typically around ~50 minutes unless otherwise discussed.

Our Nutrition Philosophy

At Ahara Nutrition Counseling, we take an anti-oppressive approach to care. We recognize that our relationships with food, our bodies and healthcare are shaped by our lived experiences, identities, cultures and access to resources. We embrace an intersectional approach that honors the many identities and experiences that make each person unique. Our goal is to create a space where you feel respected, affirmed and empowered to show up as your whole self.

We believe meaningful nutrition care starts with genuine human connection. You are the expert on your own body and lived experience and our role is to listen, support and work alongside you. We recognize the wisdom and strength you already carry and we’re here to help you build on those strengths as you navigate growth, healing, and change.

We know that reaching out for support can feel overwhelming and you don’t have to have it all figured out before you begin. Wherever you are in your journey, we’re here to meet you there and walk alongside you.

Specialties

Clinical Approach

Family Based Treatment (FBT):

FBT is an evidence-based approach for children and adolescents with eating disorders that actively involves parents/guardians in the recovery process. Families are supported in restoring nutrition while gradually helping their child regain independence and confidence around food.

Health At Every Size® (HAES®):

HAES® is a weight-inclusive approach that promotes health and well-being without focusing on weight as the primary measure of health. It emphasizes respectful care, body diversity, intuitive eating and joyful movement while challenging weight stigma.

Intuitive Eating:

Intuitive Eating is an evidence-based framework that helps individuals reconnect with their body's internal cues for hunger, fullness and satisfaction. Rather than following external food rules or diets, it encourages a flexible, trusting and compassionate relationship with food.

Relational Cultural Therapy (RCT):

RCT is based on the belief that healing occurs through authentic, supportive relationships. It recognizes the importance of connection, mutual empathy and understanding how relationships and social contexts shape our experiences and overall well-being.

Self Compassion:

Self-compassion is the practice of treating yourself with the same kindness, understanding, and patience that you would offer a loved one. It encourages responding to struggles with self-kindness rather than self-criticism, fostering resilience and supporting lasting healing.
